postheadericon What kind of business person are you?

Getting into and running a business is sometimes a route to something else, or a means to an end as opposed to a decision to have or make a certain lifestyle.

So what types of people go into business for themselves?

We have the Speculator who is taking a punt , has a wheeze or a fast buck idea - he/she is actually a peculator, someone who intends to embezzle from people and then get out fast before the dust settles.
We have the Planner who takes their time and prepares the ground and develops the foundations before launching their business and has a business model and product or service idea from the start and is in it for the longterm.

We have the Repeater who either has no skills, but likes the idea of being self employed so does it repeatedly and fails or succeeds based on the amount of luck they have, or the chance success based on right time, right place but, often more luck than judgement

There is the Multiplier who takes an idea, makes some money, moves on and invests in something bigger often splitting the gains into offshoots until they end up with what they want which is an opportunity to move in any direction.

We have the Lifestyler who sets out to have, and maintain, a specific way of living and working and who will adapt their ideas to manage their ethics and beliefs and invariably are obsessive and work with a singular focus.

There is also the Skater, who moves very quickly and their speed into, through and out of a business is so rapid, there is little impression left other than a furrow in the ice, or wheel marks on the pavement of everyones life they passed by.

Then there is the Outsider who because they have problems fitting in tend to find their own path and follow it dogmatically sometimes often pushing themselves against the tide of humanity to succeed or fail without ever feeling the need to justify themselves to others.

We have the Expert, one of a select who have got to the top of their respective professions and run out of challenges so find the chance to make new ones every day and redirect their talents into new arenas to give them the feeling of self worth which is more important than the money they make.

The Changeling, started life as one type of person, a big change occurred [redundancy probably] and they are suddenly thrusting themselves into a venture in an active attempt to avoid unemployment and oblivion. Less suited to the environment they often struggle to succeed but are very active.

Lastly we have the Evangelist, this person has strong beliefs a tendancy to dominate and a message born of nothing other than self awareness and knowledge from books and courses that evince an air of capability and determination to prove that positivity overcomes adversity and success is a state of mind.

I'm sure there are others and there are mixes of different types [ie there are mutliple reasons for doing what we do] but, we all come from something like the above and identifying our own origins or make-up is important in becoming better at what we do in the future by understanding what drives us and knowing where we are going. and more importantly, why!
